GROUP PROJECTS IN E-COMMERCE

Students majoring in E-commerce who have completed at least two courses of the four course sequence need to be immersed in a real-world experience in the field before graduation from the program. This course organizes students, preferably into groups, and matches them with electronic commerce projects that have been arranged with Memphis-area, regional and/or other businesses. They will work with both the University of Memphis faculty and the companies' professionals to achieve a rewarding real-life experience. The nature of the project is defined by mutual three-way agreement between company, faculty and student group. The objective of the project is to allow students to apply the concepts and experience they haver acquired in their coursework, face a real-life problem typical of their future professional activity, and creatively produce sound and practical solutions. It is expected that the projects may involve topics such as on-line marketing and sales, business-to-business electronic data interchange, designing data warehouses, using data mining techniques for competitive advantage, and electronic commerce aspects of supply-chain management, to name a few.
